The protean, award-winning photojournalist has distinguished himself across a bread range of genres. But his coverage of multiple Olympic Games has been especially rewarding from a creative perspective, due to his frequent use of vintage cameras and unique perspectives to deliver a fresh slant on "the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat."

Inspired by the poems and essays of W.E.B. Du Bois, Collier has created a series of portraits (and environmental landscapes) that address the ongoing systemic conditions and structures that Black Americans have long been subjected to. The strength, pride, nobility and compassion emanating from her subjects invite reflection on where we've been and where we are head ed as a nation.
