This article presents an overview of the new publication Integrated Materials and Construction Practices for Concrete Pavement: A State-of-the Practice Manual, a 350-page manual produced through a multi-year, FHWA-sponsored effort at Iowa State University’s National Concrete Pavement Technology Center.

The increasing use of rapid chloride permeability (RCP) tests for concrete acceptance testing has led to debate about the proper acceptance criteria for the test results. Current criteria, where no tests are allowed to fall above the specified value, are overly restrictive considering the high variability of the test results.
