Train the Trainer Initiative of the ACI India Chapter
- Autor:
Surendra K. Manjrekar
- Resumen:
Unfortunately, little essential knowledge and understanding of concrete are considered in the majority of engineering degree or diploma programs in India. As a result, engineers who join the industry have to acquire concrete-related experience in the field and through continuing education. This lack of training created a great need for a structured program to train and certify concrete practitioners in various aspects of concrete and related activities. Luckily, that program exists in the form of ACI certification.

Wet-Cured Floors for Sustainable Construction
- Autor:
Michael Carroll
Rick Jordan
- Resumen:
When assessing the sustainable aspects of concrete buildings, durability is one item of interest. More durable building assemblies—whether they are walls, floors, or roofs—contribute to overall sustainability by increasing life span and decreasing the need for repair and maintenance. Concrete floors are common in commercial and industrial structures no matter which material is used for the structural frame, so anything done to increase concrete floor durability has sustainability benefits for the entire building. This article deals with the effect of curing methods on abrasion resistance, one of the more important properties related to floor durability.
