Emotions are increasingly viewed as safeguard of survival and enrichments of experience throughout human development. Advances in technology enable researchers to describe and measure emotions by means of computer enhanced videotaping and by monitoring respiration, heart rate, muscle contradictions, facial contradictions, voice changes, and brain activity.
