Many specifications now require key personnel of the finishing crew to hold current certifications because designers realize they are more likely to receive the quality of floor desired if certified finishers and technicians are involved. But as more stringent flatwork requirements are being specified and newer equipment and materials are being used, the industry has called for even higher levels of expertise for those finishers and technicians producing the slabs. ACI responded by creating the Specialty Commercial/Industrial Concrete Flatwork Finisher/Technician Certification Program. The steps to become certified are outlined and a certification event at World of Concrete is described.
